Issue
Nothing happens after you complete the form on the SMART software download page, and click Download. Instead, a message appears saying that the download “will start immediately”.
Cause
One or more programs on your computer have pop-up blockers.
Solution
Determine what program is blocking the pop-ups and disable the blocker until the download is complete. Pop-up blockers are commonly found in Internet browsers, browser toolbars and firewalls.
Internet Browsers
Internet Explorer Internet Browser
Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) automatically enables a pop-up blocker. To disable this feature, select Tools > Turn Off Pop-up Blocker. If this option doesn’t appear in the Tools menu, you have an older version of Internet Explorer and the problem lies in another feature.
Opera Web Browser
Read about Opera’s pop-up blocker at www.opera.com.
Mozilla Web Browser
To disable the pop-up blocker, navigate to the SMART Web page and select Tools > Popup Manager > Allow popups from this site.
Firefox Web Browser
Select Tools > Options > Content, and then clear the Block pop-up windows check box. Alternately, add SMART’s website to the list of allowed sites to allow pop-ups from SMART while continuing to block other pop-ups. To add SMART’s website to the list of allowed sites, click the Exceptions button beside the Block pop-up windows check box, and then type www.smarttech.com.
Toolbars
Google Toolbar
The Google Toolbar features a pop‑up blocker. Press the CTRL key as you navigate pages to enable pop‑ups to appear on a one-time basis. Alternately, you can add SMART’s website to the Google list of allowed sites to allow pop-ups from SMART while continuing to block other pop-ups. To do this, go to www.smarttech.com and click the Pop-up Blocker button to add this site to the list of allowed sites.
Note
The list of allowed sites doesn’t display.
Yahoo! Companion Toolbar
The Yahoo! Companion Toolbar features a pop-up blocker. Press the CTRL key as you navigate pages to enable pop-ups to appear on a one-time basis. Alternately, you can add SMART’s website to the Yahoo! list of allowed sites to allow pop-ups from SMART while continuing to block other pop-ups. Add this website to your allowed list by clicking the Pop-Up Blocker menu and selecting Always Allow Pop-Ups From. Select www.smarttech.com from the Sources of Recently Blocked Pop-Ups list, and then click Allow.
Firewalls
Many firewalls include pop-up blockers. Check that your firewall’s pop-up blocker is disabled when you’re downloading SMART software. Remember to restore it when you’re finished.
