SMART CEO honored at the Stevie Awards for Women in Business

CEO Nancy Knowlton named Best Entrepreneur in the Non-Services Businesses

CALGARY, Alberta --- November 27, 2008 --- SMART Technologies announces that company co-founder and CEO, Nancy Knowlton, was named Best Entrepreneur in the category of Non-Services Businesses – Up to 2,500 Employees. Knowlton accepted the award at a ceremony in New York City on Friday, November 14. The Stevie Awards for Women in Business is an international competition that recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of women executives, business owners and the organizations they manage. This is the second time Knowlton has been recognized by the Stevie Awards.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are governed by a Board of Distinguished Judges and Advisors that includes many leading women entrepreneurs and luminaries in business. Members of the board selected winners from among the finalists, who were chosen by business professionals worldwide during a preliminary judging period. Knowlton’s recognition as Best Entrepreneur was based on her business achievements from July 2007 to September 2008. Knowlton was also a finalist in two categories: Best Canadian Executive and Best Executive-Non-Services Businesses – Up to 2,500 Employees. SMART was a finalist in the Best Overall Company of the Year – Non-Services Businesses – Up to 2,500 Employees category. In 2006, Knowlton was named Best Canadian Entrepreneur and SMART was recognized with an award as the Most Innovative Company of the Year.

“Being honored as the best entrepreneur in this category is extremely rewarding,” says Nancy Knowlton. “The Stevie Award recognizes the hard work and accomplishments of many people at SMART who enhance the way people learn, work and collaborate.”
