Issue
You’re unable to run SMART software after you remove SMART Common Files from your computer. Some software doesn’t start. Other software, including SMART Notebook software, displays the following error message when you attempt to start it:
SMART Notebook has encountered an error in processing program settings. Reinstall SMART Notebook to restore the default settings.
Reinstalling the software doesn’t resolve the issue.
Cause
When you install any SMART software using the Education Software Installer, you also install SMART Common Files. SMART Common Files includes common components that are required by the other SMART software. Therefore, if you’re removing all SMART software from your computer, you must remove SMART Common Files last.
If you remove SMART Common Files before you remove the other SMART software, you’re unable to run the other SMART software if it’s dependent on the common components in SMART Common Files.
Solution
To resolve this issue, do one of the following:
-
Remove the remaining SMART software from your computer, and then install the software using the Education Software Installer.
-
Repair or reinstall SMART Common Files using the Education Software Installer.
-
If your system administrator originally deployed the SMART software to your computer, ask him or her to redeploy the software using the Education Software Installer.
